I have been extremely MIA lately. Between millions (at least it seems like millions at times) of activities going on and the hard drive in my two month old laptop completely crashing, I have not had a chance to blog or even really read my normal blogs that I visit. Luckily Dell did send me a new hard drive so I can at least come on now to check on what I have been missing. I would love to have some new cards to post and show but it will be a few days probably before I get anything done.

Sympathy Card

I cannot take credit for this card. It is cased from sympathy card I saw online. The problem is I have been on so many different blogs and look at the scs gallery everyday that I am not sure whose card it was. I went back through the scs gallery for sympathy cards until mid April and can’t find it so I am sorry I can not credit whoever inspired me. It isn’t a complete case, the other card had some beautiful dsp paper and a lovely border on it also. I am happy with how the ribbon bow turned out, when I tied it the middle knot looks like a little flower! I ran the white paper through the big shot with a small dot texture plate and just could not keep from adding stickles to the flowers.

UPDATE! I finally found where I saw the card I was thinking of and would like to give credit. This beautiful card was the inspiration for this sympathy card.

Fathers Day card

I made this card for my grandpa for Father’s Day and thought I would let the kids give it to him. He has horses and the kids go out every weekend to help with them so I thought I would use this cute image from the Doodle Palace for his card. The papers I have had a Loooooooong time waiting to use them and thought now was the perfect time. The image is colored with markers (not very well either, I might add) and then I sponged a couple white clouds in the sky with my fingertip. Yeah, I know that’s not the best way to get the clouds on there and not the neatest but I couldn’t find my sponges and didn’t want to go look for one. When I took the lid off the green marker it put a few green spots on the horse, so I had to touch them up.

Thanks for taking the time to read all of that, lol. I had to come down to my craft room today to make another sympathy card. There have just been way too many people I know passing away lately. I am lucky though they are not close family just family members of friends but I know they are going through very rough times and wanted to be able to let them know I am thinking of them. I will post the sympathy card as soon as the stickles dry so that I can scan it.

Stair step beach card

What I wouldn't give to be sitting on the beach right now!! We normally go to VA Beach over the summer for a week or so but won't be going this year and I am a little bummed. I guess I will just have to settle for setting my desktop background to a pretty tropical picture.

I have been wanting to make one of these cards ever since I saw them on SCS a couple weeks ago. When I saw this beach girl at squigglefly I thought immediately about using her on a stair step card. I used some papers and small seashell buttons that had been in my stash forever and used my Silhouette to cut the waves, palm trees, and dolphin. I added some stickles to the tops of the waves and the clouds were added by dipping my finger into my white inkpad then tapping my paper, lol. All in all I like how the card turned out but couldn't really find a sentiment that I liked to put on it since I wasn't sure who I was going to send it to, so I guess that will wait for now.

Birthday card for dh

Well technically his birthday isn’t until Tuesday but since I had to give away four cards I made this week before I could get a chance to upload them, I thought I would post this card. I have been trying to use some things from my stash that I have had for awhile and this one uses some magic mesh and Heidi Swapp rub ons (the stars). The Corvette is from Rubbernecker stamps and thought it would be great for dh’s card since he is really into old classic muscle cars. Too bad I couldn’t find an old Camaro stamp but the Vette will do.

I am so happy that most of the graduation parties are over now and with only two days left of school for my kids, I will finally get more time to stamp!! I have had so many challenges that I wanted to do the last couple weeks but have not had the time.

I have two cards for you today. I think they both still need something I just can’t find anything I am happy with to put on them. The first one is a tri-shutter card for the technique challenge TLC221 from last week at scs. I really love these papers and knew I wanted to use them.

They are from the DCWV Sweet glitter stack and they are so summery! The sno-cone and popscicle stickers are from my stash and unfortunately since I had previously used some the wrapper was missing and I’m not sure who made the5 m. The panel on the left is what I feel “needs” something still. I have put buttons on it, flowers, and ribbon but still don’t really like any of it. If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them! This card looked so complicated to make but I was surprised how easy it actually was.

The second card I used the same gorgeous papers and stickers for a quick birthday card (if you read yesterdays post then you know I need tons by this weekend!) I really should have stamped something or not went with the entire sheet of the squiggle paper for my background because again I think it seems like it’s not quite finished.

Two cards down and about 5 left to go! Hopefully I can get all my cleaning done before the baby lays down to nap so I can get a few more finished!

Clear and Simple Graduation Card

I have yet another graduation party coming up this weekend. This one id for my husbands cousins boy. I don’t have the Ian digi image to match the one I made for my niece but I did have these great stamps from Clear and Simple stamps. With the exception of I could not find my sentiment stamp so had to use my SU one. I used the diploma stamp from the set for the background (kind of messed it up some and the last row has some white space) then I used a gold gel pen to color all the diplomas.

The graduate himself is colored with bic markits and that gold gel pen. It’s a fairly simple card and I done the inside just like the other one with a pocket on the inside to hold some cash.

I have his grad party this weekend, two birthdays on the 29th, one birthday on the 31st, and my husband and his sisters birthdays the beginning of June so I have ALOT more cardmaking to do this week. Plus I need a sympathy card for a relative whose father passed away last week.

Quick Birthday Card

This is not the greatest card but my 9 year old has a birthday party to go to today and really liked this cute little Dustin Pike monkey. I printed him twice and colored him with Bic markits then just cut out his head and hands and put them on with pop dots so he’s a little 3-d. The green cardstock is SU and the white has been embossed using a Fiskars texture plate and my big shot to sort of look like jungle leaves, then I wiped the embossed part with green ink. I wish I would have had more time to do it but since he had to leave within 20 minutes I guess I was lucky to get one done at all and he is pretty happy with it so I guess that’s what matters. The inside says “ Happy Birthday to a real Party Animal”.

Graduation Card

Today is my nieces graduation party and I needed a card for her, so what better image to use than Graduation Anya from The Greeting Farm. I have to say I am really liking digi stamps! Although I don't have many cards posted using them, I have downloaded and printed out TONS of them so far and don't see it stopping anytime soon. Since I also needed to enclose some money in her card I decorated the inside and made a pocket on the left for the money.

Recipe: paper: Bazzill black cardstock, dsp DCWV Rockstar; stamps: Grad Anya, The Greeting Farm, SU Congratulations (can't think of the set, brain freeze) silver ribbon and brads from my stash. SU wide oval punch for the notch on the pocket; bic markits; sizzix grad hat die cut.

Sorry the pics aren't that clear. I am still using the scanner (because now I can't find any of my multiple camera cards) and the bumpiness of the brads, and ribbon caused the scan to be somewhat blurry.

Funky Fairys Challenge #15

So I found another challenge blog. Funky Fairys has really cute digital papers, embellishments and stamps and some lovely challenges as well. The challenge this week was to make a get well card. I don’t usually do get well cards but with winning those new GinaK stamps I knew they would be perfect. I did get to use them a few days ago too to make some cards for the nurses at the extended care but I didn’t get pictures of them before I gave them away.

Cute Card Thursday #55 Marshmallows and Chocolate!

Pink and brown is my all time favorite color combo!!! My dd’s room is pink and brown, she has tons of pink and brown clothes, her carseat is pink and brown, and on and on. So when I saw the challenge this week at Cute Card Thursday I KNEW I had to make a card for it. This isn’t exactly the card I had in mind, I wanted to do something more frilly, cutsey and girlie but I loved these Quickutz die cut bon bons and wanted to use them.

The sentiment is a rub-on that I have had in my stash FOREVER. This is different from most of the cards I do since it is not stamped at all but I hooked my Silhouette up and really want to play with it more.

WOOHOO!!! Finally I found some of those adorable Studio G cupcake stamps!!!! The closest Michaels to me is about an hour away and anytime I have ever wanted any of these they didn’t have them. Well my ds had a dentist appointment last week and we had to pass M’s to get there so on a whim we stopped. I asked the store clerk where I could find the stamps and she took me back to where they had them but there wasn’t any of the cupcake ones. I did however find some cute ones that I didn’t already have. On the way to the checkout I stopped to look at something on a shelf and my ds is looking in some notebooks and things behind me and said “ mom, are these the cupcakes you wanted?” I was soooo happy. I am sure there was more than 6 new releases but these 6 were what they had and I was happy to gobble them up!!

Late Mojo Monday 81 cards

I like the Mojo Monday 81 sketch but wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it or that I would get it done. I actually finished 2!! cards for this sketch and I had them done by Thursday evening. Unfortunately I lent my camera out and had planned to to get them scanned but my scanner is in the most inconvenient place to get to so I am just now getting around to posting these. The first one that I done I made into a gatefold card because I thought the sketch fit that well and because on Cupcake Craft Challenges they were having a challenge to use more than 2 (or was it 3) folds on a card.

The next card I like also but the colors I think are a little bright for an Easter card. I really wanted to use them as a Birthday card but when I stamped my image for it I didn’t think it looked right.

My first ever Tilda!! & OCC challenge

This is the first time I have had a chance to use a Tilda image and I am so excited. I do not do her justice at all. When looking at all the lovely blogs out there and all the talented people coloring in Miss Tilda, mine looks pretty..., well blah is the only word I can think of. Then again it's not that easy to make her look great when using bic markits and sharpies. I did receive 3 elovely copic markers a couple weeks ago but not in colors I wanted to use on Tilda. (note to self I need to buy more of those!!) While coloring her I also discovered there is not a sharpie or bic marker in flesh tone! At least not one in the collection of them I own so I had to color her skinwith good old crayolas! The paper is WRMK that I have had for awhile, the flowers are bazzill and prima and I was able to get a martha stewart border punch!! I added some sparkle paint to the large flower and think I liked it better before.

I liked the colors for the OCC color challenge this week but don't have the su colors so I think these are pretty close and hope they work. Love this color combo but don't think to use it often.

Well it's off to the grocery store. I don't know about anyone else but I absolutely loathe going to the grocery store. I spend countless hours and dollars there only to get home and sometime in the week realize what I had planned to make I still need something from the store to make or to hear someone in my family say " I don't want that". But if I don't go soon they will have to eat peanut butter with a spoon, because that's all that will be left, lol.

Mojo Monday 80

Here is my card for the Mojo Monday challenge this week. I have left off the sentiment for now because I was just not sure what I wanted to say on it yet. This was a great sketch to work with but I wish I would have had skinnier black ribbon left so I could have wrapped and tied it, I don't really like my bow on this card. The green cardstock and dsp is su, the black is bazzill and the white is gp. I had the rhinestones in my stash for awhile and the stamp is one of the su sale-a-bration sets, stamped with pink pixie su ink.

I really need to go back to scanning my cards. Either that or get a light box, these pictures are really not turning out too well. This first card is just a little thinking of you type card with some really pretty fall colors. I am happy with it, I think, lol.

This next card I can not take credit for. It is a TOTAL lift of this card. I just thought it was soooo cute. I had to make it! I really like the good egg stamp set and can see myself using it alot.

New Stuff!

My Stampin' Up order from my party last week is here!! It's always fun to play with new stuff. I ordered the Big Shot finally and can not wait to play with it. I really did not need a "die cut" machine, because I love my silhouette, but I wanted it to emboss. I had the fiskars texture plates but that little tool that you were supposed to use with it was a joke. I had thought about the cuttlebug but liked the idea of the big shot so I could use the plates I already had plus I have some original sizzix dies still that I can use with it. It just seemed like the most versatile machine so I got it and it's here!! I also ended up with most of the sale-a-bration stamps, some new paper and the "a good egg" set so I can't wait to get busy, work on some challenges and get some new cards posted for all of you!! If you don't see a new card on here within the next day, someone needs to give me a swift kick in the rear.

Clear Dollar Stamps Challenge

Before Decemeber would never have considered myself a stamper but I have bought stamps before to use on a couple cards here and there but mostly for my scrapbook pages. Now after finding SCS and MANY wonderful blogs I have not done a layout forever! When I get free time, I stamp. I never knew there were so many stamp companies out there. Most of my previous stamp experience was from Stampin' Up parties so to find all these great companies like Clear Dollar Stamps, has been an eye opening experience. They currently are having a guest designer call and I would LOVE to be chosen for this. I am sure I am not as experienced as many that will be entering but I would definately put my heart into all the projects. I think it would be so much fun and to win CD stamps to boot!!! The challenge was to use purple on a card or project. I used some beautiful purple bazzill cardstock, an old cherished teddies image and colored her dress using various shades of purple. The ribbon is purple and green and while it is a simple card, I rather like it. Even if I do not get a guest dt spot, I am happy with the results of the card.

Birthday Card for my niece

Here is the birthday card that I made for my niece. Her birthday isn't until May but her brothers has already past so I wanted to send them both a card now. One late, one early. That way they won't be expecting them! Good thinking right? Maybe they think I forgot Tylers birthday but I didn't. No I was waiting so I could get him a present I knew he would like. Pokemon Platinum was released March 22, so I was able to order that for him and the Twilight DVD for Casey, so they should get those about the same time they get their cards. That is of course, if I ever get Tylers card finished.

Here is the terrific blog candy that I won from Tina a couple of weeks ago. I got it in the mail a few days ago but didn't get around to taking a pic to post it. She sent me a cute spool of purple ribbon, a retired stampin' up stamp set that has 32 stamps in it! and 3, did you hear me, 3!! Copic markers!! I have been wanting and wanting to try those but just haven't been able to break down and buy some yet, so I was totally thrilled to get these, especially the cool shadow one!!! Thank you Tina!!

Snoopy card

I made this card for a friends new baby to match a small rag quilt that I had also made. I am not sure what's going on but all the photos from snapfish are loading very small and when i try to make them larger they are getting very blurry. Guess I won't be using any more of my photos that I have stored on there. lol. The snoopy image is actually a piece of fabric that was cut from the material used in the rag quilt. I stamped the word baby on a piece of acetate with foam stamps and acrylic paints, then sponged the back of the acetate with white paint to give it more of an opaque look.

Meanest Mother Paper Bag album

I made this paper bag album as a Mothers day project for Ebay a couple years ago. I love how it turned out. There is a really cute poem that goes with it. I have posted it below but it uploaded in one long paragraph and Unfortunately the pictures uploaded very small even with it set to large.

The Meanest Mother"

I had the meanest mother in the whole world. While other kids atecandy for breakfast, I had to have cereal, eggs or toast. When othershad cokes and candy for lunch, I had to eat a sandwich. As you canguess, my supper was different than the other kids' also. But at least, I wasn't alone in my sufferings. My sister and twobrothers had the same mean mother as I did. My mother insisted upon knowing where we were at all times. You'dthink we were on a chain gang. She had to know who our friends were andwhere we were going. She insisted if we said we'd be gone an hour, thatwe be gone one hour or less--not one hour and one minute. I am nearlyashamed to admit it, but she actually struck us. Not once, but eachtime we had a mind of our own and did as we pleased. That poor belt wasused more on our seats than it was to hold up Daddy's pants. Can youimagine someone actualy hitting a child just because he disobeyed? Nowyou can begin to see how mean she really was. We had to wear clean clothes and take a bath. The other kids alwayswore their clothes for days. We reached the height of insults becauseshe made our clothes herself, just to save money. Why, oh why, did wehave to have a mother who made us feel different from our friends? The worst is yet to come. We had to be in bed by nine each nightand up at eight the next morning. We couldn't sleep till noon like ourfriends. So while they slept-my mother actually had the nerve to breakthe child-labor law. She made us work. We had to wash dishes, makebeds, learn to cook and all sorts of cruel things. I believe she laidawake at night thinking up mean things to do to us. She always insisted upon us telling the truth, the whole truth andnothing but the truth, even if it killed us- and it nearly did. By the time we were teen-agers, she was much wiser, and our lifebecame even more unbearable. None of this tooting the horn of a car forus to come running. She embarrassed us to no end by making our datesand friends come to the door to get us. If I spent the night with agirlfriend, can you imagine she checked on me to see if I were reallythere. I never had the chance to elope to Mexico. That is if I'd had aboyfriend to elope with. I forgot to mention, while my friends weredating at the mature age of 12 and 13, my old fashioned mother refusedto let me date until the age of 15 and 16. Fifteen, that is, if youdated only to go to a school function. And that was maybe twice a year. Through the years, things didn't improve a bit. We could not liein bed, "sick" like our friends did, and miss school. If our friendshad a toe ache, a hang nail or serious ailment, they could stay homefrom school. Our marks in school had to be up to par. Our friends'report cards had beautiful colors on them, black for passing, red forfailing. My mother being as different as she was, would settle fornothing less than ugly black marks. As the years rolled by, first one and then the other of us was putto shame. We were graduated from high school. With our mother behindus, talking, hitting and demanding respect, none of us was allowed thepleasure of being a drop-out. My mother was a complete failure as a mother. Out of fourchildren, a couple of us attained some higher education. None of ushave ever been arrested, divorced or beaten his mate. Each of mybrothers served his time in the service of this country. And whom do wehave to blame for the terrible way we turned out? You're right, ourmean mother. Look at the things we missed. Nugget boxes

These are just a few of the little Hershey Nugget boxes that I am making for my upcoming Stampin' Up party next week. (I am just hosting the party, I have not made up mind as to what company, if any, I am going to sign with yet.) I have invited many friends to come to this and would like to be able to give them all a little something extra for coming so when I saw these here, I thought they would be perfect!! I just hope that the candy really fits in them ok. I didn't have any of the nuggets here (chocolate does not last long in this house!) to make sure of the fit and since I have them almost all finished I would be very upset if they didn't fit. On the other hand I followed directions exactly for once and I see them clearly in her pictures so I am sure they will be fine.

It turns out IRW is closing. I just received my wonderful order from the guy in the big brown truck a couple of days ago and was excited to start doing more parties and crops. Now I am at a dilemma as to what I want to do. I have looked into acbailey designs and they carry alot of the same products IRW carried, including the wishblade and other Xyron items as well as some great items that are geared toward card making and digital scrapbooking. Their catalog can be viewed here (it is a large catalog) I have also thought about joining Stampin' Up because since I am really into card making now I need to grow my rubber stamp collection. Here are my concerns, with the economy the way it is could I sell enough of either to actually make it work? People have heard of Stampin' Up but I think AC Bailey is kind of like IRW and not well known at least in these parts. Because of that there are MANY stampin' up reps in my town alone and only 3 Ac Bailey consultants, not sure if that's a help or hindrance. So which would you prefer to attend a show for? I'm just on the fence as to what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

** Now I have one more option I am throwing in to think about, Memory Works** Great, I have a hard enough time making decisions as it is, lol. But if anyone has any other scrapbook companies they know about please let me know or if you have opinions on one of these ones. I am just so in shock over this. It happened kind of out of the blue.

Cute Card Thursday #47 and Friday Sketchers #39

This card was done for three challenges to start. The Cute Card Thursday challenge was a dance/music theme and the little ballerina bear I thought would work great for that, and the Friday Sketchers sketch worked out perfectly with it. The third challenge was for ?? ( I hate it when I can't remember) but anyway it was to use pink. The bear actually started pink but I couldn't find any paper I really liked with her then when I found this Karen Foster paper I had I had to change the colors on the bear to match. The flower on the bottom was colored with marker to match the bear and the papers. I loved this paper so I had to make a pen to match.

No, I haven't switched car insurance and I am not trying to talk you into it. I was sitting on the couch the other day watching tv while my darling little dd played with her toys on the floor. My dh sees her playing and gets up, walks over to her and a few minutes later I look over to see this.....

Apparently the mister potato head eyeballs reminded him of the Geico commercials with the money, lol. As soon as I saw it I burst out laughing and knew I had to get a picture of that to use as my 365 Days project picture. I really do need to quit saying 365 days project since I really didn't start it until Feb 1st instead of Jan 1st.

Well, it's not the cutest card I have made but my Birthday Card stash is greatly depleted and I have several upcoming birthdays this month. I made two of these cards tonight and along with increasing my card stash I was able to get two challenges I wanted to participate in done! The Friday Sketchers #37 sketch and the Cupcake Craft Challenges #24!

**edited to add I forgot about the Stamp Something Challenge. I knew there had been another one I wanted to use this for. It was the reason for picking the Ice Cream Cone stamp to begin with but It took me awhile to remember what site the challenge was from. Another duh moment, but it has passed now, hehe.

For the 3-2-1 Challenge you had to use 3 pieces of cardstock, 2 embellishments and 1 piece of ribbon. I really should re-take the picture tomorrow. It's after 2 am and i just can not find the right lighting. The pink cardstock is Bazzill bling and with the doodlebug glitter on the Ice cream cones (doodlebug stamp) it really looks much cuter in person than in the photo.

Since I have been so bad about doing anything lately I have decided I want to participate in some of these challenges that are going on. Today a new sketch was posted at Friday Sketchers. Ok, so I have spent the last week blog hopping and looking at all the great and exciting projects everyone else is doing and can't help but feel like I need to be doing something too. I have not scrapped in forever! I haven't even made a card in months! I have however visited splitcoaststampers gallery and tons of blogs so I have TONS of ideas and inspiration...now if I could only manage to get to my little craft area and do something! I am making it a point to do at least one card this week.
